NEW RIVER GORGE, WV: Adventure Weekend

Join us for a multi-sport adventure weekend September 27-29, 2024, as we break down barriers and break out of our comfort zones. Designed with passion and purpose, this event aims to break down barriers, creating an inclusive space to unite, camp, and adventure together, free from judgment. Prepare for an exhilarating weekend filled with heart-pounding adventures throughout the New River Gorge National Park. Whether you're an avid hiker, a fearless climber, a passionate mountain biker, a water enthusiast, a multi-sport master or just entering the world of outdoor adventure, we have curated an array of activities that cater to all levels of stoke and expertise.

Please note that tickets should be purchased at least one month in advance to ensure availability of discounted priced add-on clinics and adventures.

Who is the festival for?

Every Body. The Open Trail Adventure Weekend is for anybody who wants to get outside and explore. It’s for new and seasoned adventurers  - anybody who hasn't had the opportunity to get out and explore, those who want to dive deeper, or those who want to try something new. This weekend is for anybody who wants to adventure in a supportive environment without judgment. Come as an individual, come as a group, just come as you are.

Location

• Traditional lands of the Eastern Band of Cherokee, Tutelo, S'atsoyaha, and Moneton peoples now known as the New River Gorge National Park.
• Official Basecamp Location: Arrowhead Bike Farm, Fayetteville, WV

Cost

Sliding scale starting at $50 which includes camping, snacks, beverages, and an Adventure Kit with sponsor giveaways 

Additional costs include rock climbing, mountain biking, rafting, and other clinics or adventures.

Gear

If you are located in NEOhio and in need of outdoor equipment, you can rent low cost from Kent State University and University of Akron (you do not need to be a student to rent!). Depending on your area, other local universities may rent gear out as well. There are are also companies such as Outdoors Geek that rent out gear and can ship it to the campground if you are coming from out of town. Please let us know if you are interested in joining but lack of gear is holding you back!

Adventure Schedule: 

Our array of activities and clinics are entirely optional, with efforts made to secure discounts or free rates wherever feasible. Take the reins of your adventure—bring your own climbing gear to tackle the endless walls of the NRG, set out on solo mountain biking expeditions, or gather friends for a group ride. Prefer to explore at your own pace? Lace up your boots and hit the trails. This weekend is your adventure, your choice.

Thursday (optional early check-in):

• Early check-in 4-8 PM **

Friday (check-in between 4 and 8 PM):

• Self-guided hikes *
• Self-guided MTB outing (rentals available until 6PM) *

• Half-day New River Rafting Adventure with ACE - $100
• Half-day Beginner Climbing Clinic with New River Mountain Guides - $80
