AKRON, OH: Guided Hike (free event - please RSVP)

Open Trail Collective is excited to host our first family-friendly event at the F.A. Seilberling Nature Realm, one of our favorite places to hike, explore, and learn! It will take place at 10AM on the Friday before Memorial Day Weekend. We will kick off summer with a hike guided by one of Summit Metropark's naturalists as we explore the trails and learn about the animals and ecosystem of this 104-acre natural area. Come early or stay late to explore their hiking trails, walking paths, several ponds and gardens, a prairie, an arboretum featuring more than 300 species of shrubs and trees, and a visitor center (opens at 10AM). The hike will go from 10-11AM and we will provide light refreshments afterwards.

As with all of our events, we will have space for a gear swap where you can pass on your well-loved gear for something that is new to you. Kids grow up SO fast so this is a great opportunity to swap out some of their old gear and supplies for something that fits and excites. Bring your gently used hiking boots, backpack carriers, and  UPF onesies to trade for new-to-you gear. Swap out those barely worn toddler shoes for a size up, or snag a cozy fleece for your little one's next adventure under the stars.

Bring grandma, cousins, friends, whomever! No family? No problem! This hike is open to anyone who wants to join.

GUIDED HIKE NOTE: Bring water, walking shoes, and a carrier for littles (stroller, carrier, backpack). We will update here once we know the duration and walking surface of the hike. 

GEAR SWAP NOTE: We will host the post-hike gear swap and refreshments on the picnic tables by the parking lot.
