About The Event
This workshop is designed to help participants build confidence in both observing birds and photographing them. The morning workshop alternates between indoor grounding and outdoor practice, allowing participants to immediately apply what they learn, reflect, refine, and then build on that experience. . Along the way, we’ll also tackle those “scary manual settings” on your camera, helping you understand how they work so you can take full advantage of your gear—or at least know why your photos turn out the way they do
Birding and photography are treated as interconnected skills. Understanding bird behavior helps people know when and how to photograph, and photography reinforces careful observation of birds and their environment.
This workshop includes a short, slow-paced outdoor walk on maintained trails at the University of Akron Field Station. The outing is designed to be accessible and beginner-friendly, with frequent stops for bird observation, discussion, and photography.
