PENINSULA: Deep Lock Quarry and Peninsula Coffee House (930 AM)

This hike starts at Deep Lock Quarry in Summit Metroparks located at 5779 Riverview Rd, Peninsula, OH 44264 and it will be guided by Sarah Fekete Waite . We will hike the 1.2 mile loop and then continue north .75 miles on the Towpath to Peninsula Coffee House where we can grab a drink or snack if desired (bring your own travel mug if you have one to cut down on waste). The total hiking distance will be around three miles in length. The hike will have around 220 ft of vertical gain.

Walking through this park, it may be hard to believe that most of the forest was cleared during quarrying days. Nature has reclaimed the land, and today it is home to more Ohio buckeye trees than any other Metro Park in the county.
